Australias Phillip Island Circuit proved the perfect venue for Kyle Rydes impressive testing debut, riding the Ranieri Med R6 in the World Supersport Championship.
Race Preparation
In the two official test days, team, crew and rider carried out the perfect set-up work to prepare for the race. As testing progressed, Kyle got a chance to learn the circuit, understand his new bike and improve his performances, step by step. Every session, lap times went down constantly and the final 10th position in the standings doesn’t really show the real potential for Sundays race.
Bike Set-up
The team were so pleased with the set-up that the final session was used to do some “installation laps” for the bike that will be used in Sundays race, this meant we lost the possibility to improve the our lap time in the afternoon with the better track conditions but we were very pleased with the 1’35”2 already posted by Kyle in the morning. Bike set-up for the race is already considered good, and the final tuning will be done during the upcoming race week-end.
Kyle Ryde
“I’m very happy with my début performance in the Supersport Championship and really happy to ride at this wonderful circuit. It’s difficult for a rookie like me to be fast immediately, but the team have been excellent and the R6 is a great bike, we’re confident that we will be competitive over the race weekend. The bike felt great straight away and our times aren’t that far from the top teams and riders. We have a couple of days rest now before the first official practice on Friday so fingers crossed for the weekend”
